Watch Leo Goolden as he brings back the 47’ teak-planked TALLY HO to the glorious gaff cutter she was when launched over a hundred years ago in England. This vessel, designed by Albert Strange, now lies in a shed in Boat Haven in Port Townsend, WA.
The backstories, and there are many, can be found on Leo’s website, his Facebook postings, and on the Albert Strange Association’s TALLY HO pages.
In addition, Leo wrote a piece on TALLY HO for SOUNDINGS Magazine – “Tally Ho, Adventure! The Quest to Put a 1927 Fastnet Winner Back on the High Seas”.
October 5th, 2024 – TALLY HO – Episode 202: Announcing a New Mission – My Biggest Challenge Yet!
In this episode, after a big announcement about the future of this project, Leo and his crew experience some really challenging and exciting sailing aboard Tally Ho. They navigate through an extremely narrow and shallow passage and out into the open Pacific Ocean where they are able to test Tally Ho in much harsher conditions. On the extremely remote West coast of Haida Gwaii, they sail very carefully into a completely uncharted bay – searching for safe anchorage.
Walter Connolly says:
Leo it would be a great to sell thoes wool caps with the logo Tally Ho plaid shirts ,sweaters, apron and what elsewhere else would would sell for men and woman. What say you .
