We recommend turning the sound off and putting on a favorite piece of Italian music.

In this video filmed on the canals of Venice, we see the Venetian rowing style, performed standing up. Note the rowlock (in Venetian: fórcola), whose shape allows the oar to be set in one of three or four different positions.

One Response So Far to “Venetian Rowing

  • David Sinclair says:

Wonderfully peaceful vignette of a calm morning in Venice by gondola. The sculling is ‘just extraordinary’. This brings to mind the video ‘Avel Dro in Venice – exploring remote backwaters of the lagoon’ by Roger Barnes. He gives the viewer a perspective on the ‘hidden gems’ of the Venetian lagoon as can only be experienced from the water.
