Remember our friend Dave Golding in Tasmania? He has one of the best boat sheds that we’ve seen anywhere in the world, and he took us for a ride on his Couta boat.
Still don’t remember Dave? How about the demo he gave us on his Rube Goldberg-ish magic spinning machine that makes cotton caulking for boatbuilders?
Fast forward a couple years, and now there is a young couple building a boat in Dave’s shed, and the Australian Wooden Boat Festival has created a touching video about this couple and their project:
Neil Henderson says:
I agree Tassie has a lot of people who know how to build (carve?) wooden boats. I look forward to seeing more of this build as it progresses. We were in Tassie earlier this year.

I love this story. One that begins with tragedy, followed by a sister determined to try to understand and make sense of such absurdity. She abandons the safe and secure norms and follows after her brother in search of answers. Appears it was worthwhile and seems that she has not only discovered what her brother had found, but found her own path along the way. Good stuff OCH. This story helps us find hope in a world that is lacking such things. I still believe !
