Back at the end of May, I showed how I was routing the openings being created with the inwale spacer blocks and the inwale. Since then, amongst other activities, the inwales have received probably no less than 10 coats of gloss varnish and now 3 coats of satin. Today was the day! Got out a plethora of clamps and clamping pads, caulking gun epoxy, and off I went. The starboard side was epoxied and clamped up by 9:30, by  10:30 it was screwed in and epoxy squeeze out cleaned up. I put a singles screw (#8 1” silicone bronze) into each of the connections with the spacer blocks. Even made sure to remember to finish all screws slots horizontal. The bronze screw heads, the satin finish, it all came together nicely!

BACK STORY ON CORNER BRACES AND SPACER BLOCKS

The sharp eye will spot Maple being used for the corner braces and spacer blocks. I re-purposed pieces off an old (1950s) picnic table and benches. This little table sat 4 kids and 2 adults for many years as our family breakfast table. So,this is my contribution to,the family legacy building in pieces from our family’s history.

Epoxy and clamps; after it was all clamped I came back and ran pilot holes and screwed everything down nice a snug. I then removed the clamps.
