      I am going the route of spaced inwales. I have cut the spacer blocks 2” long and will space them 3” apart. I heard those sizes and spacing from someone else’s video and thought what the heck. Good enough for them, good enough for me.

      The spacer blocks are 3/4” thick, so the gunwale will be a bit wide but I find most  small boats with spacer blocks – the open spaces are useless. Too narrow to run a line, or get a few fingers in to help,lift. So wider it will be. Plus I had nice 3/4” thick maple stock laying about.

      The inner gunwale/inwale will likely be a lamination of Sapele to get to 1/2” thickness. I can scarf a few pieces to make up the length needed.
