I am finally tackling the mast. I went to the exotic wood lumberyard and picked out some nice vertical grain DouglasFir and a nice piece of Sipo. I had also bought a piece of ash, but found it to be much heavier than either the DF or SIPO. I am sure priests will say these are not good for masts. I think laminated together in 3 layers will be plenty strong.time will tell. Glue-up will be tomorrow!
