This series wonderfull to watch, thank you Bill and OCH! Very appreciated after building a Haggerty kit with 200+ screws 70 yeas ago, an off the cuff taped seam dinghy 50 years ago and another one stitched this year. Now I won’t have any excuses fo my shoddy work. Extra kudos for the outstanding camera work and editing, what patience you all had.

Bill, I wrote a comment on the FOX much earlier, back in 2015. I have now just watched all the sequences and I think you should publish them for all s&g workers. They would have saved me hours of work; and your clear descriptions and reasons for doing it this way and not that way are worth their weight in gold. As an engineer, I found your way of pushing down on the inside of the copper wire ties a most elegant solution; It added a small amount of additional tension to the wire, while at the same time getting it low enough so that your epoxy fillet results in a real smooth professional job.
I also found your painting surface preparation descriptions and the actual painting methods infinitely superior to trying to read and interpret the instructions on a paint can. … and thanks for teaching me to punch holes in the can rim so that paint can flow back into the can, leaving the rim clean to reseal the can. I could have used all your knowledge and instructions back in 1971 when I built the first, and later the second OPTIMIST for our children. Congratulations on giving us a superb set of videos and building instructions.

Bill thank you so much for this excellent video series. I loved your straightforward teaching style and off beat sense of humour. Cudos also to your camera man (woman) as the shots always kept the action and topic in frame and focus. I can now put into practice what I have learned from you to proceed with a two part sailing tender for my sailboat. Also after hearing your discourse regarding spraying paint on a boat verses rolling and tipping, I have decided to proceed with painting my sailboat using the R&T method. This after having the first 3 coats sprayed on by a professional painter. Thanks again and I look forward to your next video series.

My (aging) plans for Thomas J. Hill’s ‘Whisp’ and my building materials (courtesy of ‘Edensaw Woods’ are finally going to get my full attention this Spring thanks to the inspiration and education provided by your excellent example. Many thanks from the shore of Grays Harbor in Washington.

Hi Bill, Thanks for the great training course in boat building and painting.
My only complaint is that I really should have seen this 20 years ago when I built my Bolger CarTopper, and later on a Bolger NYMPH dinghy. That was learning while building. Your excellent video would have made my life a lot easier and produced a far more professional end product. Both boats worked well and were a joy to sail and row, but after seeing all your building tricks, you would have saved me from a lot of drip sanding and helped me do a better job at making “proper” epoxy fillets. It’s the old story; you get too soon old and too late smart! Thanks for the great boat building series.

Great video series! I 1st started watching this just for tips on stitch & glue but in short order was captivated by Bills methods of work & teaching style. Finally I fell in love with the lines of the boat & resolve to make it next winters project.

Thanks so much, Bill. I started watching this series just to see what s & g boatbuilding was. After a few episodes, I was so inspired I built a kayak from a kit using what you were teaching me. Many thanks for keeping me busy and entertained all last winter. I hope you do another series.

Thanks Bill. You are not only a very talented designer and craftsman, but a great teacher as well. In my humble opinion, your Fox Canoe Series is the best thing that Off Center Harbor has produced to date. What are you going to teach us to build next!
