Thank you
For the very timely video, Kim! I will follow your guidance to the letter when I roll and tip 2 part perfection on my new build small trawler next week
Gregg Moore says:
I’m getting ready to paint my canoe using the tipping method.Very helpful!!
John Bishop says:
Great video, thank you. Can you keep the brushes used for varnishing in kerosene as well, or just ones that are used for paint?
Maynard Bray says:
I’ve found that varnish brushes keep well after use if flushed with turpentine, after which their bristles (including a little of the ferrule) are submerged in a small can of raw linseed oil. A baggie slid over the brush’s handle that also covers the can keeps out the dust. When you’re ready to use that brush again, just reverse the process: flush out the linseed with a little turpentine, sling that out, then go for the varnish. My brushes have lasted for years with this kind of treatment.

Really good series, how I wish I had seen these before owning my wooden boats over the past 50 years, Thanks
Andrew Comas says:
Another great job Kim. Didn’t even know they made Paint Keepers.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the varnish manufactures, and thoughts on using the faster drying varnishes (think Epifanes Rapid Clear) to build a flat base, followed by the final gloss coats
Thorin Messer says:
It looks like they don’t make that brush keeper any more. Or else I don’t know how to ask the internet for it. Jamestown is the only place I saw it and their site says it’s no longer available.
Keith Cheney says:
Thank you, Kim. You are very articulate and did an excellent job. Great information in this series!
Kaci Cronkhite says:
Excellent series. As others have said, she is SO clear and the way you changed camera angles so we could “look inside the bucket” etc make it seem like I’m right there at the paint bench with her. Thank you for another lesson that keeps on giving. Not only have I learned something, but can now pass it on!
Geoff Wade says:
Good tips clearly presented, thanks.
Steve Cormack says:
Great job Kim! Really enjoyed the series. Lots of good advice and info. Thank you.
