Something I’ve always been curious about is how such schools work the financial issues. Are the student built boats spoken for and paid for before construction or brokered after they’re built. Just building a boat on spec could be a way to lose money quickly.
Steve Stone says:
Hi James. Someone from the school might weigh in and give more details, but my understanding is that the bigger boats are usually commissioned and the smaller boats might be on spec or commissioned if they get lucky. Labor is mostly free (students), and I suspect they get a decent deal on materials.

Nice tour Eric.
Sean’s explanations of wooden boat construction was clear and concise. He’s a good instructor, and the school looks top-notch.
Now, if I could only lose 50 years, I would be signing up for classes!
Cheers, fsc
