The Dow family has been fishing and building boats a long time. It’s nice to see Miss Coke out working around Brooklin. This boat started as a bare hull (I’m not positive on who’s hull it is so I’ll not comment on who I think built it), that was finished out by Bridges Point Boatyard in Brooklin Maine. Wade and his crew also built the Joel White designed Bridges Point 24.
Steve Stone says:
Great to know this information about the boat, Paul. Thanks for taking the time to put it here. Do you have any idea what year she was finished off at Wade’s shop? And if you learn who built the hull that’d be interesting to know as well.

Hi Steve & OCH Crew,
Thanks a lot for this great video! Now we don´t have so many Lobster Boats over here at the german coasts…if any at all… so it is such a pleasure to see a Lobsterman at slow work in august. And although he seems to work at ” a reduced augsust moderate tempo” he gets his position to grab his traps always with a sort of power slide. Great! I like that, no I love it! And practice similar maneuvers with about 50% successful and another 50% – well – lots of fun for spectators looking at a Drascombe Longboat going into strange circles. Regards – Stephan aka Joe Laaks
Ted Burn says:
What is the purpose of the cradle? Is it to protect the bottom on a big tide shift In our area we have 1-2 foot tides except in hurricanes.
David Tew says:
Interesting how he passed between the buoy and the toggle when picking up the pot line.
Colin Emsley says:
We have a Maine built boat here in the Northwest, a Jarvis Newman 36 it works just as well around the San Juan islands as it does over there
Mark Bates says:
Just wondering if that boat is what one calls a Downeaster? Lovely boat!
Paul Zarychta says:
You are correct!
Chris Noto says:
“Start off slow… then ease up… it’s August.”
Thanks. I needed a reminder. August in Atlanta can curdle your brain!
😉
Doug Bell says:
Yup. Beautiful sound and beautiful thing to watch. My dream is to have a boat like that and cruise the Pen Bay islands.
William Mcalonan says:
It’s like crapping in the Delaware Bay!
Eric J Nelson says:
There is NOTHING like the sound and beauty of a lobstahboat. I would LOVE to have one of those.
Danny Doyle says:
I suppose our equivalent would be slow May, same thing, different hemispheres.
Best time of the year with a small boat to be at North Stradbroke Island.
Nate Rooks says:
Well if that’s not just about the best way to wake up…
