Seymour Hamilton says:
Thank you for reminding me of the how light and water play subtle games on calm mornings. A few moments of tranquility made my day start slow and prepared me to ease up.
Paul Krans says:
This earns my “Sanity moment of the day” award for the week.
Kathleen Roach says:
Thank you for the informative and artful videos. Love them all!
Peter Strock says:
Whether in a pram, a 12 1/2, or Ticonderoga serenity is much in demand these days
David Hubbard says:
Ahhhhh… love these videos. I did that yesterday for awhile. Took my boat out in very light air. Made maybe a knot, maybe. Just cruised the town waterfront in slow motion. Watched the local boat shop launch their ‘family boatbuilding’ weekend boats and race them around a pier. Good time.
Thomas Buzzi says:
Form follows function. I believe the small craft is the truest representation of what it means to be in tune with the world on which it floats. As hulls increase in size as a story often retold changes its meaning, so too do the larger craft stray from this perfect, pleasing message of how the waters want to be caressed by our dreams.
Lou Kimball says:
Re: Steve’s comment- I live on a rural peninsula in Midcoast Maine, The Neck in Harpswell, and no, we don’t lock anything. All boats just sit there, tied up with a line, with oars, motors, sails, Ready to go!
FRANK PERRICONE says:
Thanks for the neat video. Those piles of stone holding the bridge up give me the willies.
Norman NOLAN says:
You can actually see, and hear, those boats breathing. Wonderful work! Thanks guys.
James Daw says:
As the man said “Start out slow, then ease up. It’s August.”
Rick Robinson says:
I could almost smell the waterfront as I watched this video…thanks for awakening the memory.
Peter Bligh says:
Re the San Diego locking down your boat. Who would want to live in a place where someone would steal your boat? It shakes my faith in Cod.
Ian Anderson says:
Ommmmmmmmmmmm…………
Steve Stone says:
So funny you chant that, Ian, cause we’ve been thinking the sound of the lobster boats in the background of our slow august videos is like one long “Ommmmm….”.
Conbert Benneck says:
A thoroughly delightful meditation. Will any of the dinghy owners let an old codger try one out and go for a row around the harbor, for old-times sake?
Steve Stone says:
Sure Conbert. Stop by our office and we’ll let you know which boat you can take for a row around the harbor.
Richard Morgan says:
Cool but would love more down and dirty videos of work on boats…
Love to the Team.
Steve Stone says:
Thanks Richard. They’re coming.
edward mcmahon says:
Thanks for that nice quiet dinghy meditation this morning. One thing I was taken by is that all the oars and some rigs were just left in the boats with no issue. Here in San Diego we have several mooring fields and if the oars are not locked to the boat and the boat not locked to the dock it will disappear pretty quickly.
Steve Stone says:
One of the joys of rural Maine, and living in a small community at the end of a peninsula. I suspect everyone there locks their houses and their cars, too? And everyone probably doesn’t leave their keys in their cars either?
Todd Williams says:
What make of dinghy is the pink one in the photo. It looks like a stitch and glue type construction.?
David Tew says:
The pink one is a Shellback: https://www.woodenboatstore.com/category/shellback_dinghy
Todd Williams says:
Thanks for letting me know.
Mike Cusack says:
I can go, sit by the water and watch the dinghies float around but that’s not why I joined the off center harbor site. Can we please have some more serious videos of boat restorations, renovations, tips and tricks?
Thank you.
Gary herbertson says:
I am grateful that Off Center Harbor keeps up a steady stream of videos on boat restorations, renovations, tips and tricks. I am also grateful at this recent addition of 5 videos in the month of August that capture some of the texture and tone of why I keep coming back to the boat…just to look at it…and back to the water for the quiet relaxation that seeps into my pores. It’s all good, and I appreciate the breadth of video offerings.
giuliano ferrari bravo says:
beautiful images!…but I am concerned about the bridge pillars!
Bob Thornberry says:
Off Center Harbor has added an altogether NEW dimension to my continued love of boats! Thank you! Keep up the great work!
