I met Shanan in New York while taking a birthday schooner excursion with family. She was the captain. We chatted and I mentioned how I had seen Columbia docked in Bristol RI. I was amazed when she exclaimed “I work on that boat climbing the mast to manage the staysails!” What a rockstar! So impressive and professional but also friendly. I even got to briefly helm that schooner. You’ll hear more from her in coming years I have no doubt. Fair winds Shanan!
Kenneth Jeffreys says:
I’m sure Nate shot the footage from the mast top.

We all need more of this in our lives, please!
Suzan Wallace says:
She exhibits & articulates the attitude well of a young, successful, “go after it” sailor.
There are MANY unrecognized sailors out there doing/learning great things with the right ‘mindset’ for sailing~

What a great piece! I’m going to show this to my daughters right now. I love that “step up and learn” attitude Shanan exemplifies here.

A good companion piece to your video about the women of Cranberry (Islands) Oyster farm: https://www.offcenterharbor.com/videos/cruising-by-an-island-oyster-farm-cranberry-oysters/

The still image beginning at 1:30 is absolutely stunning. Both the photographic composition and Shanan Wolfe’s undaunted attitude!

That photo is a real winner and my favorite too. It was captured by George Bekris.
