A memory of 70 years ago in a recovered wrecked dinghy with sails made from washed out blueprints borrowed from Thornycroft shipyard, (my father was a blacksmith there) and leeboards, full of tar,,pitch and a big bailing bucket.Camping in the creeks of Southampton Water UK.Oh ,we were too youmg to go in a pub!

Sounds amazing Ron. In my day we chopped trees and built rafts to float the local ponds, and patched up an old rubber inflatable to fish the small rivers. Finally built a Glen L sailboat when I was 14 but never sailed her, got distracted with sports and cars. Later going crabbing from a home-built dory found on Craigslist for $75. Good memories. Thinking of building a peapod now from one of CLC’s kits. By the way, what were these “washed out blueprints” that you made the sails from?

        Hello Norman
did you find out about blueprints? In the old days construction plans were drawn on fabric impregnated with glue. If you washed out the glue you had some fine woven cloth to use for other things
        cheers

Thank you Roger. Perhaps the best of many great videos so far! How can anyone not want to go dinghy cruising after watching this?
