Ginny Jones Ginny Jones owns and operates Foxfire Marine Consulting. After getting a degree in cultural anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, Ginny was secretary and researcher for ten years at the du Pont Preservation Shipyard, Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut. After moving back home to Martha’s Vineyard in 1985 she worked for Gannon & Benjamin Marine Railway, Inc. in Vineyard Haven (designers and builders of fine wooden yachts) from 1985 until leaving to go sailing. In 2004 she sailed from the Vineyard to the Azores, Ireland, Scotland and England. On previous passages she has sailed back and forth numerous times as cook on classic wooden boats between New England and the Caribbean, from Hawaii to Port Townsend, Washington and Port Townsend to San Diego, as well as in the North Sea and around the British Isles. Over the years Ginny has been a member of the Ocean Cruising Club, Old Gaffers Association, the British Classic Yacht Club, and the Association of Yachting Historians.   She has been an affiliate member of the National Association of Marine Surveyors for many years.    Semi retired now she spends time with her grandsons (in the boatyard of course). As well as her interest in boats and sailing Ginny is active in island politics, a life long advocate of the natural world, an avid reader and an accomplished sea cook.   She has recently authored a cookbook FRESH FROM THE VINEYARD to help support local agriculture and shell fishing.
